Welcome Letter of the Organizing Committee

The Chapter of Patras of the Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students with co-organizers, the Medical Department and the Deanery of the University of Patras are delighted and honored to invite you to the “4th  Clinical Course of Internal Medicine for Medical Students and Medical Graduates” which will take place on December 8th -10th, 2017 at the Events Hall Agora Argiri, in the city of Patras.

The main goal of this Course is to enrich our knowledge and define questions that have been formed upon basic matters of Internal Medicine during its practice on a clinical level.

The Course will be FREE for all the participants and our goal is to embellish our scientific program with clinical lessons, round tables and lectures with the participation of distinguished scientists with wide clinical experience and remarkable research project, offering a unique three-day educational experience for Medical students and students from other Medical Sciences, as well as Junior Doctors.

After the extremely successful organizing of the 1st Course on September 28th-29th, 2014, the 2nd Course on October 9th – 11th, 2015 and the 3rd Course on October 14th-16th we are closer to our will, to add to this event an annual color, transforming the city of Patras to an annual meeting point of accomplished scientists, students and junior doctors from every part of Greece with the direct support and cooperation of the academic and scientific community.

Supporters in our effort, for the four consecutive year are our teachers and professors with their valuable support for organizing the Course. We would like to thank them kindly, hoping we will prove ourselves to be worthy of the trust they showed us.  Last but not least, we would like to thank all the members of the Organizing Committee of the Chapter of Patras of the Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students, who with passion, fervor and creative ideas have contributed to the development of the Chapter so far and to organizing this Course.

I welcome you at the “4th Clinical Course of Internal Medicine, for Medical students and Medical Graduates”, which it is organized for the fourth consecutive year, after the successful organization of the previous Courses last years.

We have worked together many times these last years, I truly congratulate you for your initiative, and for your continuous and irreducible interest for the knowledge and the research. The way that you manage your education sets a strong foundation for your future career and as a final impact the patient’s benefit.

Honored co-workers, dear students,

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2nd Clinical Course of Internal Medicine for students and graduates of Medical School, which follows last academic year’s first successful event.

Organizing this Course is another proof of the quality of our students, who are struggling in these tough times to spread the word of contemporary medical knowledge and communication among the students and the scientists. In these terms, Workshops of emergencies and lectures of discrete speakers from multiple fields of Pathology like Nephrology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and other specialties will be included in the program of the Course.

The 2nd Clinical Course of Internal Medicine is an initiative worth praising. It is our duty as members of the Scientific Society to stand next to you, supporting your efforts. Αn effort which will offer you not only job training but also conscientiousness and a sense of responsibility.

Competition of Medical Knowledge

When is it?

The Competition of Medical Knowledge will take place on Saturday, September 27th at 16:00-17:00 during the 1st Clinical Course Of Internal Medicine.
Who has the right to participate?
Do I have to pay?

At the Competition all of the attendants of the Course can participate ( except from the 5 members of the Council of the Department of Patras of the S.S.H.M.S and the Presidents of the Course) regardless of the school and the year of schooling.

Believing that the education of the students and all of the procedures surrounding it have to be given lavishly to whoever seeks for it, the participation at the Competition of Medical Knowledge and to the entire Course is FOR FREE.

Will there be an award?

The person who gathers the highest score will receive a prize of great value, courtesy of the Parisianou Scientific Publications A.E.

The prize will be the textbook “HARRISON INTERNAL MEDICINE”, 17th Edition, with hardcover.

The award will be given during the Opening Ceremony (Saturday, 19:40-20:00) where your participation is needed for the reception of the prize.

How can I register?

The participations applications will be held on Saturday, September 27th during the Course from 11:00-14:00 at the Course secretariat.

The number of the participants is specific and concerns the first 80 who will register to participate.

What’s the topic going to be about?

The questions will cover all the fields of Internal Medicine and will be in the form of multiple choice.

Workshop BLS/AED

Duration : 4,5 hours ( Starting time : 16:00 )

Number of participants : 36

Eligible to participate : Undergraduate students and graduates of Medical School, School of Dentistry, Nursing School and of related health science faculties.

Current academic year : Not required

The Chapter of Patras of the Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students (S.S.H.M.S.), in cooperation with the working group of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Intensive Care and the Nursing working group in Cardiology of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology (H.S.C.) have the great pleasure and honor to welcome you to participate in the BLS/AED provider course.

The aim of this course is to train medical students and new doctors in Basic Life Support and in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (BSL/AED provider course), based on the latest guidelines of 2015 in CPR and the principles of learning and adult education.

At the end of the course, the trainees will be able to recognize a cardiac arrest victim, to properly perform specialized care, to provide efficient chest compressions and ventilations, to use with safety the AED and to put an unconscious but breathing victim in resuscitation position.

The training will be performed in small groups (5-6 students) under the guidance of experienced teachers of the European Resuscitation Council. In order to successfully attend the course, all participants will have to study the resuscitation handbook, which will be provided soon.

The duration of the course is approximately 4,5 hours and is certified by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC).
