The Scientific Conference of Hellenic Medical Students (S.C.H.M.S.) is the pinnacle of the activities of the Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students (S.S.H.M.S.). It is a classic event especially for the student community aiming to unify the whole medical community through a common vision: the advancement of medical science in our country by developing the scientific knowledge and personality of future physicians.

Since 1994, every year the Conference is held in a different Greek city organized by the corresponding Chapter of S.S.H.M.S.. The academic community has embraced S.C.H.M.S., as evidenced by the participation of thousands of health science students and hundreds of Professors as well as by the high scientific quality of the Conference. Therefore, S.C.H.M.S. is ranked among the country’s most timeless and major medical conferences.

S.C.H.M.S. gives medical students the opportunity to take their first steps through preparing a complete scientific project, from the very first literature search on international scientific databases to finally presenting their work to the public (either individually as an Oral Presentation and E-poster or as a group in the context of a Round Table). Meanwhile, students can get in touch with world-reknowned scientists and other students from Greece and abroad. The wide variety of Conference topics guarantees that all participants will come to contact with an astonishingly broad range of scientific subjects to suit everyone’s interests.

Apart from presenting their work, any students enrolled to S.C.H.M.S. can also participate in the following extra activities:

• Practical and theoretical Seminars / Workshops
• International Forum for Medical Students and Junior Doctors – aims to bring together the students of our country with the most acknowledged scientists in the biomedial field, opening new horizons
• Medical Olympics – a medical knowledge competition, comprising of a preclinical and a clinical part, the winners of which are awarded

The upcoming 28th S.C.H.M.S. and 16th International Forum is due to take place on the 13th – 15th of May 2022, in Crowne Plaza Hotel, Athens.
